Grade Seven and Grade Nine Legend Videos:
Both grades used legends from Keepers of the Animals. The following steps were taken in creating the video:
- The students took turns reading the legend out loud.
- The legend was then split into different parts to read. Each part was assigned to a student.
- Each student then had to summarize their part to put it into their own words.
- Once they had their parts summarized, the grade sevens created a picture using tissue paper for the background and black construction paper for the foreground.
- The grade nines used a batiking technique to create their backgrounds. They had to draw their pictures first on plain white paper, and then they had to trace the pattern onto white cloth using glue. Once the glue was dry, they painted the background using acrylic paint mixed in with a fabric medium. As soon as the paint was dry, the batiks were soaked in extremely hot water to remove the glue.
- Pictures were taken of the pictures and their voices were recorded using a microphone that plugged into the computer. Power point was used to create the video effect.
The students really enjoyed themselves during the making of both videos. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
